Winand Staring

As an economist involved for twenty years in development cooperation and water management, Winand has always been on the move. Born in South America (El Cardon, Venezuela, 1948) from Dutch parents, he has travelled extensively throughout Latin America as well as Asia and the South Pacific Islands.

Winand comes from an artistic family, and throughout his life has continued to make music and write poetry. His imagery reflects the abundant colours and the symbols of the many different cultures he has lived in and come to love, including Mayan, Incan and Asian. His paintings, like his life, are a continuous search for alignment and harmony between man and nature, body and mind.
